We’ve added an electric vehicle to our fleet
Andre Construction recently added their first electric truck to their fleet of construction vehicles. This investment in EV technology is part of our ongoing effort to be more conscientious about consumption and the construction industry’s impact on the environment.
“We’ve always been committed to building forward,” says Michael Pollock, Vice President at Andre Construction. “By finding ways to reduce the impact of our work, we’re contributing to a more resilient future for our region.”
The construction industry is increasingly adopting electric vehicles, but it can be challenging to add more than one or two EVs at a time. Charging infrastructure on our near construction sites is still not widespread, and because the range of electric construction equipment is still growing, alternatives for certain specialized equipment are not yet available.
The team is starting with one truck and assessing the viability of bringing on more in the future.
“Transitioning to electric vehicles and equipment has a number of benefits beyond reduced emissions,” says Pollock. “The fuel savings are tremendous, which helps us keep costs down.”
Ontario's commitment to electrification, combined with industry investments and infrastructure development, positions the province as a leader in integrating EVs into construction. As technology advances and more electric equipment becomes available, Andre Construction looks forward to joining the industry in becoming more sustainable and efficient.
